What AI sites does this work with?
Currently ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), Claude (claude.ai), and Google Gemini (gemini.google.com). You choose which sites to enable in your settings. More platforms will be added based on user demand.
What data do you collect?
Only prompt quality metrics (numerical signals like "has context," "has goal") and a truncated 280-character snippet. We never store full conversations. All signal extraction happens locally in your browser before anything is sent.
Does this work on mobile?
Not yet. Mobile operating systems don't allow apps to observe other apps. A future version may offer a custom keyboard or share-sheet extension for mobile, but that's a separate project. For now, AI Coach works in Chromium desktop browsers.
What does the score actually measure?
Your score (0–100) measures where your AI usage falls on the spectrum from brain replacement (0 = fully outsourcing your thinking) to brain amplification (100 = using AI to extend and strengthen your own thinking). It's computed from signals like whether you provided context, stated a goal, included your own attempt, and asked to learn rather than just get an answer.
What happens after the trial?
The free plan stays free forever (10 prompts/day). Your 14-day Pro trial requires no credit card. After the trial, you drop to the free tier automatically — nothing is charged. If you choose to upgrade, Pro is $8.99/month or $6.99/month billed yearly ($83.88/year). Students get 50% off with a .edu email. Cancel anytime.
Are the energy and water figures accurate?
They are clearly labeled as estimates. We use published per-token energy and water consumption figures and estimate token counts from character length (~1 token per 4 characters). These give a reasonable approximation but are not exact measurements.

What We Collect
AI Coach collects prompt quality metrics (numerical signals such as "has context," "has goal," "specificity score") and a truncated snippet (maximum 280 characters) of each prompt you write on AI platforms you have explicitly approved.
We never store full conversation transcripts.
All signal extraction happens locally in your browser before any data is transmitted.
You control which AI domains the extension monitors via the Settings page.
How We Use Your Data
To compute your prompt quality scores and generate daily reports.
To power the real-time prompt improvement assistant (your prompt text is sent to our server, processed via a language model, and the response is returned to you; the text is not stored after processing).
To send daily report emails if you have opted in.
Which Domains Are Accessed
The Chrome extension requests host permissions only for the AI platforms you approve. By default these are: chatgpt.com, claude.ai, and gemini.google.com. You can remove or add domains in Settings.
LLM Proxy
When you use the "Improve This Prompt" feature, your prompt text is sent to our backend server, which calls a third-party language model API (Google Gemini) on your behalf. This architecture ensures API keys are never exposed in the browser extension. Your prompt text is used solely to generate the improvement and is not stored after the response is returned.
Data Storage
Prompt metrics and snippets are stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database with row-level security. Only you can access your own data. Data is retained for the duration of your account plus 30 days after deletion.
